Youth Justice Outcomes for Children
The report highlights a critical national data gap: the absence of linked data showing how many NRM-referred children are subsequently charged or prosecuted, making it impossible to assess whether exploited children are being protected or criminalised, and raising serious concerns for safeguarding, accountability, and policy reform.
Children on Remand
This data shows that nearly half of children in custody are on remand despite not being convicted, most won’t receive a custodial sentence, costs are extremely high, and those affected are disproportionately boys, Black children, and care‑experienced children, with major gaps in data on exploitation.
